Quality Supervisor

Position Summary
The Quality Supervisor is responsible for directing and supervising inspection activities for production parts, ensuring compliance with quality standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures. This role leads quality personnel, supports production teams, and works closely with customers and vendors to resolve quality issues and improve overall product quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct and supervise inspection of production parts using standard gauging and coordinate the use of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs)
- Oversee gauge calibration activities
- Plan, schedule, and prioritize departmental work to meet production and quality objectives
- Review layout inspection reports and evaluate rejected parts for potential salvage or “use as is”
- Authorize and dispose of non‑conforming material (scrap, salvage, or use as is) via MRT tickets
- Investigate quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Develop, initiate, and improve quality procedures and programs
- Communicate quality policies and processes across manufacturing operations
- Train machine operators on inspection equipment and inspection techniques
- Instruct shop and office personnel on quality and manufacturing best practices
- Coordinate and support training programs for new and transferred employees
- Provide daily support to quality staff by resolving inspection problems and ensuring adequate resources
- Work directly with customers and vendors to resolve quality concerns
- Foster a cooperative, respectful, and team‑oriented work environment
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises up to 10 employees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field
OR equivalent in‑depth knowledge of mechanical power transmission components, marine transmissions, or commercial transmissions - Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience
- Proficiency with PC‑based software, including:
- Spreadsheets
- Word processing
- Database management systems
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
