As we continue to grow and expand globally, we are seeking a strategic and results-driven Commodity Manager to join our team. This role is ideal for an experienced sourcing professional who thrives on building supplier partnerships, driving cost competitiveness, and influencing business strategy.

Position Summary

The Commodity Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that deliver annual cost savings, strengthen supplier performance, and support Twin Disc's business objectives. This position plays a critical role in managing key supplier relationships, identifying new sourcing opportunities, and supporting new product development from prototype through production launch.

The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical and negotiation skills with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes and supply chain management.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

  • Develop and execute commodity and supplier strategies that support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Identify, evaluate, qualify, and onboard new suppliers to strengthen and diversify the supply base.
  • Lead supplier selection activities and establish sourcing strategies for materials, components, and outside processing services.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers while serving as the primary point of contact for critical vendor partnerships.
  • Leverage global sourcing resources, including Twin Disc India, to maximize value and supply chain effectiveness.

Cost Management & Negotiation

  • Drive annual sourcing savings initiatives and identify opportunities to improve cost competitiveness.
  • Lead negotiations for pricing, contracts, and long-term supply agreements.
  • Track and analyze cost savings, price increases, and overall supplier cost performance.
  • Develop target cost models ("should-cost" analysis) to support negotiations and supplier accountability.

Supply Chain & Process Improvement

  • Create and implement tools and processes that improve sourcing effectiveness, productivity, and supplier management.
  • Develop and manage a strategic sourcing pipeline, ensuring a healthy flow of cost reduction and supplier development projects.
  • Support manufacturing operations through rapid outsourcing solutions when capacity relief is required.
  • Establish supplier performance tracking systems, supplier visit schedules, and supplier database management processes.

New Product Development Support

  • Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Product Development teams to ensure supplier readiness for new product launches.
  • Support prototype and production release activities to ensure successful product introduction and supply continuity.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Accounting, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five years of sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or commodity management experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success identifying, qualifying, and developing new supplier relationships.
  • Experience negotiating contracts and driving measurable cost savings initiatives.

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and machining operations.
  • Knowledge of components such as gears, shafts, castings, forgings, and precision-machined parts preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and supplier performance management tools is a plus.

Communication & Leadership

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Comfortable presenting sourcing strategies and business cases to leadership.
