Twin Disc, Inc. is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to support manufacturing operations at its Racine, Wisconsin facility. This position is responsible for managing the supply of assigned materials and components to ensure uninterrupted production while maintaining appropriate inventory levels and supplier performance.
The Sourcing Specialist serves as the primary owner of assigned suppliers and part numbers, coordinating material planning, inventory management, supplier communication, and production support activities. Working closely with Manufacturing, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams, this role ensures material availability, resolves supply-related issues, and maintains accurate planning data within JD Edwards (JDE) and related systems.
The ideal candidate is highly organized and energetic, analytical, and proactive, with a strong understanding of manufacturing environments, inventory management principles, and supplier relationship management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supplier Ownership & Material Availability
- Serve as the primary Twin Disc contact and owner for assigned suppliers and part numbers.
- Manage supplier communications regarding forecasts, production schedules, delivery commitments, and changing business requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance and proactively address issues that may impact production schedules or material availability.
- Escalate potential supply interruptions and coordinate resolution activities to minimize operational impact.
- Maintain effective working relationships with suppliers to support timely and reliable material flow.
- Ensure materials are available to support manufacturing schedules and customer demand.
- Collaborate with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve material shortages and supply constraints.
- Participate in daily production and management meetings, providing updates on supplier performance, inventory status, and supply risks.
- Support Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) by coordinating material transitions and supplier implementation activities.
- Respond quickly to changing production priorities and business needs.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while supporting operational requirements.
- Monitor inventory health and take action to reduce shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete materials.
- Develop and maintain replenishment strategies that align with business objectives and production requirements.
- Analyze supply-and-demand requirements to support effective material planning decisions.
- Support inventory accuracy through ongoing review of planning parameters and material master data.
- Utilize JD Edwards (JDE) and related systems to manage material requirements and inventory performance.
- Review and process assigned planning messages and recommendations.
- Maintain accurate planning parameters, including:
- Lead times
- Lot sizes
- Reorder points
- Order policies
- Safety stock levels
- Ensure planning data is updated to reflect business conditions and supplier performance.
- Work closely with the Quality Department to resolve supplier-related quality concerns affecting production.
- Coordinate with Logistics and Receiving to resolve material flow issues.
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for supply-related disruptions.
- Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing teams to improve material availability and operational efficiency.
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Accounting, or related field.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in manufacturing, materials management, purchasing, inventory control, supply chain, or production support.
- Experience supporting production planning and inventory management activities.
- Knowledge of machining, castings, forgings, or industrial manufacturing components.
- APICS CPIM certification or other supply chain certification.
- Based at Twin Disc's Racine, Wisconsin manufacturing facility.
- Primarily office environment with regular interaction on the production floor.
- Occasional travel to supplier locations as business needs require.
